Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most commonly asked questions I get from couples looking to book a wedding photographer, if you have any Q’s that’s not answered, please feel free to get in touch.

Q. You are based in Nottingham, how far do you travel?

Being based in Nottingham definitely has its perks… well, at least one!

Sitting right in the middle of the country means I can head north, south, east, or west with ease. Every wedding season, I travel the length of the UK capturing weddings in all sorts of venues, from countryside barns to city rooftops – and everything in between.

Q. How do we book?

The first step is to get in touch to see if I’m free to photograph your wedding; you can do this via the contact page or drop me an email or a text / WhatsApp.

After the initial contact, I can either send you a booking form, or you can book an informal chat HERE.

Q. Can you hold our date?

Unfortunately, I can’t hold dates—no matter how nicely you ask!

Due to the number of enquiries I receive and my limit of 20–25 weddings per year, a date is only secured once the booking form is completed, the contract is digitally signed, and the £300 non-refundable booking fee is paid.

This ensures everything is fair and first-come, first-served for all couples.

Q. How many images do we get?

Every wedding is different, but as a guide, a typical 10-hour wedding usually results in around 400–700 individual images.

I don’t set a minimum or maximum—there are no strict limits. You’ll receive all the best images that tell the full story of your day, however many that may be.

Q. How do you deliver the images?

All the images are delivered via my secure online gallery system.

From here, you can download, share, create your favourites list, and even order prints and frames.

All images are delivered in high resolution and free from watermarks.

Q. Do you do family formals?

While I specialise in documentary wedding photography, I completely understand that many couples still want a few traditional group photos.

I recommend keeping group shots to around six key combinations. With the help of a couple of family members, ushers, groomsmen or bridesmaids, we can get them done quickly and efficiently—so your guests aren’t left standing around, and you can get back to enjoying the day.

Q. Do you do engagement or pre-wedding shoots?

No, I don’t offer engagement or pre-wedding shoots.

My style is purely documentary, and engagement shoots tend to involve a lot of posing and direction—which just isn’t my thing. I prefer to capture real moments as they naturally unfold, staying true to the relaxed and candid approach I bring to every wedding.

Q. How long does it take till we get our wedding photos?

Your full wedding gallery will be delivered within four weeks.

If you’d like your photos sooner, I offer a 7-Day Express Turnaround for £250. This can be added at the time of booking via the booking form.

Q. How much is the booking fee? and when do we have to pay the final balance?

Once you’ve completed the booking form and signed the contract, you’ll be taken to a payment page to pay the £300 non-refundable booking fee.

This can be paid by debit/credit card, PayPal, or—ideally—by bank transfer.

The final balance, including any extras like album design or Photofilms, is due six weeks before your wedding date. This due date will be clearly outlined in your contract.

Please note: final balance payments must be made via bank transfer.

Q. Do we meet before the wedding?

Around eight weeks before your wedding, I’ll be in touch to arrange our final pre-wedding chat—usually via Zoom or Google Meet. If you’re local, we can meet in person, but most couples prefer the convenience of an online call.

Before our meeting, I’ll send over a short wedding questionnaire. It covers key details like timings, locations, group photos, and emergency contact info. Once completed, your answers will form the basis of our final run-through, ensuring everything is planned out and nothing gets missed on the day.

Q. Can we order prints and products?

Absolutely!

Printing your favourite wedding photos is so important—and your online gallery makes it easy. You’ll have access to a wide range of high-quality print options, including wedding albums, canvases, matted frames, standard prints, and even stunning acrylic wall art.

It’s a great way to bring your memories to life and enjoy them every day.

Q. Can we send you a Pinterest Board?

Nah—not really my thing.

I photograph weddings the way I see them—real, unscripted, and full of genuine moments. That’s what allows me to create the kind of images you see throughout my website.

If your Pinterest board reflects a different style—lots of posed or highly styled shots—you’ll likely be happier with a photographer who specialises in that approach. I don’t copy shot lists or try to recreate someone else’s vision.

I focus on telling your story as it naturally unfolds.

Q. Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes, I offer a second photographer as an optional extra.

I work closely with a trusted group of fellow wedding photographers, and we regularly second shoot for each other throughout the year.

Adding a second photographer is a great way to get even more coverage—especially during morning prep, the ceremony, and candid guest moments.

Pricing starts from £500.

Q. Are you insured?

Absolutely—and every wedding supplier should be!

I’m fully insured with both public liability and professional indemnity cover. If your venue needs proof, I’m happy to provide copies on request.

Q. Do you have any recommendations for other wedding suppliers?

Yes, absolutely! If you’re looking for brilliant, reliable people to help with your wedding—whether it’s makeup, videography, florals, or more—I’d be happy to point you in the direction of some amazing suppliers I’ve worked with and trust.

Q. Can we have the RAW files?

RAW files aren’t included as standard, but they can be purchased after the wedding through your online gallery.

  • £600 – RAW files of all delivered images, provided on an SSD drive

  • £800 – RAW files of both delivered and non-delivered images, also on an SSD drive

Please note: RAW files are unedited and intended for personal archiving rather than everyday use.

Q. Can you take pictures of both of us getting ready?

Yes—if the timings work!

If you’re both getting ready at the same location, it’s nice and easy for me to move between the two of you.

If you’re getting ready at different locations, I can still cover both preparations as long as the schedule allows (factoring in travel time, getting ready times, and overall coverage limits).

That said, please don’t feel pressured to adjust your timeline just for this—it can add unnecessary stress. If full coverage of both morning preps is important to you, adding a second photographer is the best way to make it work smoothly.

Q. What happens if you are ill?

Touch wood, I’ve never missed a wedding—and I fully intend to keep it that way.

That said, if something serious were to happen and I genuinely couldn’t be there, I’d immediately help you find a replacement photographer with a similar style and standard to mine. You’d have the final say on who to go with, whether it’s someone I recommend or someone you already have in mind.

Any payments made to me would be fully refunded, giving you the flexibility to move forward with confidence.

Q. What cameras do you use? What happens if something breaks!?

I photograph every wedding using three Sony A1 cameras—Sony’s flagship model. These allow me to shoot in complete silence, which is perfect for ceremonies and intimate moments.

In the unlikely event of equipment failure (which has never happened), I also keep additional backup cameras in the car—so I’m always covered and your day is never at risk.

Camera lenses; A wedding day is captured with three lenses (20mm, 35mm, 50mm) - this combo has worked for me for the last 200 weddings.

Backup lenses (24mm, 85mm and 135mm) are either in the backpack with me at the wedding or in the car.

Q. How do you keep our images safe after the wedding?

Great question! Image safety is a crucial part of the wedding photography process—and something that often gets overlooked by both couples and some photographers.

I take image backup seriously. Your photos are stored in multiple locations, ensuring they’re safe even if something unexpected happens. From dual card backups on the day to off-site and cloud storage after the wedding, every step is covered.

Q. Do you Have any advice for us? It’s all bit overwhelming.

Absolutely—and you’re not alone in feeling that way!

Having photographed over 200 weddings, I’ve put together a series of helpful blog posts covering everything from unplugged ceremonies and speech timings to family group photos, walking down the aisle, and more.

They’re designed to take the pressure off and help you feel more prepared for the day. You can find them all over HERE

Q. Do you need feeding?

No need to worry—I always bring my own food to weddings so I can eat when the time allows.

At many venues, supplier meals tend to come out last, and sometimes they arrive just as the speeches are starting—so having my own food gives me the flexibility to stay focused on the day.

That said, a soft drink or two throughout the day is always appreciated! But please don’t feel any pressure to provide a meal for me.

Q. Do you take any couples portraits?

Yes—but only in a way that feels natural and comfortable for you.

Most of my couples aren’t big fans of being in front of the camera, and that’s completely normal. That’s why I offer three relaxed options for couples portraits on the day, so you can choose what suits you best.

To watch me talk about them click HERE.

Q. What can we do with the images? Do we own copyright?

The copyright for the images will always remain with me, as they’re my intellectual property—that’s standard for professional photography.

That said, you’ll have a full licence to use your images however you like (except reselling them without my permission). This is all covered in the contract.

I know it sounds a bit legal—and technically it is—but in simple terms:

You’re free to print, share, download, post on social media, create your own albums or slideshows, and even feature your photos on your own website.

If you’re curious, here’s a helpful link to the gov.uk site on copyright that includes an example specifically about wedding photography.

Q. Is this your only job?

Oh yes! and I love it!

Q. Do you do wedding albums?

Absolutely! Photos always look better in print, and a wedding album is a beautiful way to preserve your story for generations.

My albums are handmade in Italy using the highest quality materials and industry-leading print technology. They’re designed to be timeless, elegant, and built to last.

Prices start from £350.

Q. Do you have a privacy policy?
