WOODBOROUGH HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Kelly and Mattie tied the knot in a beautiful, light-filled ceremony in the Orangery at Woodborough Hall—a Grade II listed wedding venue in the heart of Nottinghamshire, and one of my favourite spots for relaxed wedding photography.
My day began with Kelly and her bridesmaids getting ready in the bridal suite at Woodborough Hall. The atmosphere was calm, fun, and full of laughs, as Kelly, her flower girl, mum, and bridesmaid had their hair and makeup done in the cosy upstairs room—perfect for candid wedding photos and natural moments.
Once Kelly was in her dress, it was time for a first look with her dad—a moment full of emotion, happy tears, and hugs. These are the kinds of unscripted moments I love to capture with my documentary wedding photography approach.
The ceremony took place in the Orangery—a bright and elegant space, ideal for photographing intimate vows and heartfelt reactions. Surrounded by friends and family, Kelly and Mattie exchanged personal vows, sealing it with a kiss (and a celebratory air punch from Mattie!).
After walking back down the aisle to a wave of cheers, the couple stepped outside into a confetti shower, followed by hugs and congratulations from their guests.
We took a few relaxed family group photos before everyone enjoyed the drinks reception on the terrace. The wedding breakfast and speeches were also held in the Orangery, keeping everything close-knit and easygoing. Speeches kicked off before dinner, with Kelly’s dad leading the way, followed by Mattie, and then the best man with a few cracking stories.
As golden hour approached, we slipped outside for some natural portraits around the grounds of Woodborough Hall. It was a quiet moment for Kelly and Mattie to take it all in—and for me to capture some relaxed couple shots in the soft evening light.
After that, it was time to head back in for the cake cut and first dance (or as I like to call it—the first shuffle!). A perfect end to a fun, emotional, and unforgettable day.
Kelly and Mattie had booked the brilliant band The Burgundys – who also happen to be on my recommended suppliers list (which you can find HERE). These guys know exactly how to get a party going, and they certainly delivered.
This was my first time back at Woodborough Hall since its new ownership, and I have to say – I was seriously impressed with the renovations. They’ve done a fantastic job bringing it back to its former glory.
From a photography point of view, the light-filled Orangery, terrace, gardens and surrounding grounds give plenty of variety throughout the day without needing to take couples away from their guests for long. It works brilliantly with my relaxed, documentary approach to wedding photography – letting couples enjoy their day while I concentrate on capturing everything happening around them.

WOODBOROUGH HALL WEDDING VENUE INFORMATION
Woodborough Hall is a Grade II listed country house wedding venue in the Nottinghamshire village of Woodborough, surrounded by landscaped gardens and countryside. The venue combines the character of the historic Hall with a bright, modern Orangery, which can be used for both wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
For Kelly & Mattie’s wedding, the Orangery hosted their ceremony before being transformed for the wedding breakfast and speeches, while the terrace and gardens gave guests plenty of space outside during the drinks reception.
Having photographed Woodborough Hall both before and after its recent renovation, it’s been great to see how the venue has evolved. From a photography point of view, having the Orangery, terrace, gardens and main Hall all close together gives plenty of variety without needing to take couples away from their wedding for long.
