DODDINGTON HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Flora and James tied the knot in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Coach House, tucked away in the stunning grounds of Doddington Hall—one of Lincolnshire’s most elegant country house wedding venues.
My day began with Flora and her bridesmaids getting ready in the Delaval Rooms—one of the lovely on-site accommodation options at Doddington Hall. The morning was super relaxed, with everyone doing their own thing, sharing laughs, and enjoying a calm start to the day. The perfect setting for candid, documentary wedding photography.
Once Flora was in her dress and looking amazing, it was time for a short walk up to the Coach House for the garden ceremony.
This was actually my first time photographing an outdoor wedding at Doddington Hall—I’d previously only shot inside the main Hall or the Garden Room—so it was a real treat to capture the venue in a new light.
One of the standout features of the outdoor ceremony setup? That glorious long aisle! It gave me plenty of room to get creative—wide-angle shots to show off the gardens, mixed with close-ups of the emotional first glances between Flora and James. It was everything I love about relaxed, natural wedding photography.
The ceremony itself was heartfelt and personal, with beautifully written vows and genuine emotion. Being outside allowed me to move freely and discreetly capture all those fleeting reactions from their guests—something that defines my documentary wedding style.
After the “I do’s,” we made our way to the main hall for confetti and a few relaxed family group photos, before heading back to the Coach House for the drinks reception.
The wedding breakfast was held in the Green Wing—a light, modern space that opens out onto a private walled garden. Flora and James chose to kick off the speeches before dinner. Flora’s dad started things off, followed by James, and finally the best man, who brought the house down with some brilliant stories.
As the evening rolled in, the cake cutting took place outside in the walled garden, followed by a romantic first dance. And just when everyone thought the party had started, Flora’s heritage took centre stage with some fantastic traditional Albanian dancing—a vibrant, joyful way to kick off the evening celebrations!

DODDINGTON HALL WEDDING VENUE INFORMATION
Doddington Hall is a historic Elizabethan country house and estate just outside Lincoln, surrounded by gardens and the Lincolnshire countryside. The Hall and grounds provide a range of different settings for weddings, including the option for outdoor ceremonies within the gardens.
For Flora & James’s summer wedding, their ceremony took place outside in the gardens, giving the whole celebration a relaxed feel and allowing guests to enjoy the surroundings from the start of the day.
From a photography point of view, the combination of the historic Hall, formal gardens and wider estate gives plenty of variety without needing to take couples away from their guests for long. Outdoor ceremonies also give me the freedom to work quietly around the space, capturing reactions and moments naturally without becoming part of the ceremony itself.
