WOLLATON HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Faith and Tim picked the historic and famous Wollaton Hall for their Humanist lead wedding ceremony and reception.

The day started for me with Faith getting ready on the Nottingham University campus at Hugh Stewart house, with her bridesmaids and her Mum.

By the time I arrived for morning prep, Faith and the girls already had their hair and makeup done, and were sitting and chatting in the guest lounge, taking it all in before the wedding dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses needed to be put on.

Faith and Tim were married on the hottest day of the year in September 2023, and because of the heat, Faith decided to get ready in the sitting room rather than in the main bedroom at Hugh Stuart house.

Helping Faith into her dress was one of the bridesmaids. I always love the moments around the wedding dress going on when people are helping, fluffing the dress, putting the shoes on, and putting the veil on; it's usually at this point that it hits the bride that today is the day she's getting married.

Once Faith was in the wedding dress, it was time for Mum and Dad to see her. Dad got a little emotional, and Mum looked so proud.

The only hiccup on the day was the fact that the wedding cars didn't turn up to take the bridesmaids or Faith and her Mum and Dad to Wollaton Hall, but hey, that's what Uber is for!

When I arrived at Wollaton Hall, Tim and his groomsmen were waiting at the front of the wedding ceremony room; after a quick handshake and hello, I made my way around the room to grab images of the wedding guests waiting.

You will see in some of the images in the gallery below people with small hand fans. This was because it was the hottest day of the year, and Wollaton Hall being a Grade-listed site, there is no aircon, and they can't have the windows open.

The walking down the aisle photos are some of the most dramatic I have taken for some time; the light coming in from the big windows in the ceremony room, lighting the aisle and the back of the room, really focuses your eye on the people walking down the aisle.

The wedding ceremony was a humanist ceremony, which means the ceremony is about the people rather than the legal aspects of getting married, with the ceremony conducted by one of Tim's closest friends. (if you want to know more about the different wedding ceremonies in the UK, click HERE).

Once the wedding ceremony was done, it was outside onto the balcony for a big group shop, a photo that Faith and Tim wanted, and then it was time for them to get covered in confetti!

The drinks reception was held at Camellia House, which is a short walk from the back of Wallaton Hall and thankfully offered plenty of shade, which gave the wedding guests some respite from the heat and the Sun.

Once the Prosecco had been drunk, canapés were eaten, and after a couple of formal photos, it was time to head back up to Wollaton Hall for the wedding breakfast, speeches, and the after-show party.

I absolutely loved my first time at Wollaton Hall; it’s such a special venue to get married in; the rooms have so much presence and history, and everywhere you look is a stunning backdrop.
