WOLLATON HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Emma & Richard celebrated their wedding at Wollaton Hall, one of Nottingham’s most iconic historic wedding venues. With its grand architecture, beautiful grounds and impressive Great Hall, it was a fantastic setting for a relaxed wedding full of family, laughter and plenty of emotion.
It was also lovely to see some familiar faces, having photographed one of Emma & Richard’s children’s christenings a few years earlier.
The morning started at Emma’s parents’ house, where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and children. It was a lovely, busy morning with plenty happening, before Emma got into her dress and we had a first look with her dad and the children. We then headed into the garden for another lovely moment as the bridesmaids saw Emma in her dress for the first time.
Meanwhile, I’d arranged for a second photographer to capture Richard and the lads getting ready. Having two photographers meant we could cover both sides of the morning without anyone having to rush between locations.
After a short drive to Wollaton Hall, I joined Richard as he welcomed guests arriving for the ceremony. Emma arrived shortly before the ceremony was due to begin, making sure she stayed out of sight until it was time to walk down the aisle.
The ceremony took place in the stunning Great Hall at Wollaton Hall. Before Emma arrived, Richard was treated to an emotional recording of their children saying some lovely things about him.
Emma then made her entrance with her dad and son, walking down the aisle to join Richard. The ceremony itself was lovely and relaxed, with a couple of readings adding some personal moments along the way. Nothing too complicated or drawn out, just a really nice ceremony surrounded by their family and friends.
After exchanging their vows and rings, Emma & Richard signed the register before walking back down the aisle as husband and wife, ready to get the celebrations started.
One of the things I love about weddings at Wollaton Hall is the opportunity for a big group photograph on the grand staircase. With everyone gathered together, we captured a quick photograph before guests headed downstairs for confetti outside.
The drinks reception took place at The Camellia House, where everyone enjoyed drinks and food while catching up in the sunshine. We fitted in a handful of relaxed family photos before heading back towards Wollaton Hall for a few photographs of Emma & Richard together, making the most of the impressive building and surrounding grounds.
Back inside the Great Hall, Emma & Richard made quite an entrance for their wedding breakfast, with guests cheering and waving their napkins as they arrived.
Speeches came first, with Emma kicking things off, followed by her dad, Richard and finally the best man – a brilliant mixture of laughter, emotion and some great stories.
The evening celebrations started with the cake cutting and first dance before the live band got everyone onto the dancefloor. But the party wasn’t finishing at Wollaton Hall! Emma & Richard had arranged a bus to take everyone into Nottingham city centre, where the celebrations continued at a nightclub.
It was a fantastic day from start to finish, made even better by photographing a couple and family I already knew. Wollaton Hall is a brilliant Nottingham wedding venue, with its historic interiors, dramatic architecture and beautiful grounds offering plenty of opportunities for natural, relaxed wedding photography.
From the emotional moments during the ceremony to the laughter, speeches and evening celebrations, Emma & Richard’s wedding was exactly the sort of day I love documenting – real moments, minimal posing and everyone simply enjoying themselves.
