STOCKPORT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Gemma & Chris celebrated their wedding at Mellor Golf Club in Stockport, with a relaxed ceremony and reception all taking place at the same venue. I joined them for six hours of wedding photography, starting with guests arriving and taking the coverage right through to their first dance.
Chris was there to welcome everyone as they arrived before Gemma made her entrance with her dad – suitably late, as tradition dictates! The ceremony was lovely and relaxed, with their children deciding they wanted to join Mum and Dad during the service, creating some brilliant natural moments along the way.
After the ceremony came one of my favourite parts of the day – confetti inside! With everyone gathered around Gemma & Chris, it made for a fantastic burst of colour and some great reactions before guests headed onto the balcony for the drinks reception.
Gemma & Chris didn’t want lots of traditional family group photos, so we kept things simple with just a few photographs of the two of them with their children. The rest of the drinks reception was photographed naturally, letting everyone chat, laugh and enjoy themselves without constantly being pulled away for photos.
Everyone then headed back into the main room at Mellor Golf Club for the speeches, with Gemma’s dad, Chris and the best man taking turns. There was a lovely mixture of laughter and emotion before the room was transformed ready for the evening celebrations.
The cake cut and first dance brought my coverage to an end. Six hours might be shorter than a traditional full-day wedding package, but for Gemma & Chris it covered exactly what mattered to them – from their guests arriving and the ceremony through to the speeches and first dance.
It was a brilliant example of how relaxed wedding photography doesn’t need to mean spending the entire day with a photographer. By concentrating on the parts of the day that were important to them, I could tell the story of their Mellor Golf Club wedding naturally, with minimal posing or interruption.
