RUSHTON HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Welcome to the first blog of 2024 on the HQ website, and what a wedding to kick off my weddings for 2024, the awesome wedding of Jade and Darren, who were married in late March at the 5* Rushton Hall Wedding Venue in Northampton.
Jade and Darren booked me well over 12 months before their wedding; they wanted their wedding day to be about their family and friends all coming together to celebrate their wedding day, they wanted their coverage to reflect them, and they wanted to make sure that they spent as much time with their family and friends as possible on the day and not to be stood around for ages doing formal wedding photos - the perfect wedding for me!
The morning coverage of weddings can go one of two ways: chaos and stress or calm and relaxed, and I think you can see from the image above which way it was for Jade on her wedding morning.
The photo coverage was split between Darren and his guys getting ready, and Jade and her girls getting ready. I love it when couples get ready at the same location, it allows me to capture both sides of them getting ready without having to cut one side of the coverage down due to the need to travel to various locations.
Once Jade was in her dress, with the help of her Gran, it was time for Dad.
Jade had warned me that her Dad might get emotional, and he did but it was one of those emotional moments mixed with humour as the bridesmaids giggled away to the right of me.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Picture Gallery at Rushton Hall, a stunning room with stunning defused light coming from the big windows at the front of the room.
The wedding ceremony was a quick one, with the guys wanting to get the legal stuff out the way so they could then enjoy the rest of the day knowing the stressy legal bits and talking in front of everyone was out of the way - well at least for Jade, Darren still had his speech to do!
Despite most of 2024 to this point being rain and wind, we did get lucky on the day, with the rain out of the way in the morning and only a few gusts of wind during the rest of the day, which meant that everyone could huddle outside after the wedding ceremony and cover the newly married couple with confetti before heading into the Grand Hall for the all-important drinks and canapés.
The wedding speeches and the wedding breakfast at Rushton Hall are held in the Ballroom, a big elegant room with high ceilings and some fancy chandeliers; it’s a stunning room to have your wedding breakfast in.
The speeches were Jade’s Dad, the groom, and the best man. All of them behaved themselves during the wedding speeches, with only a few embarrassing stories about Jade and Darren, but they were good stories!
The evening kicked off with Jade and Darren’s first dance, which the band played - I love a live band at weddings; the energy that they bring to a wedding is like nothing else, and the image above is one of my favourites from the evening with Jade belting out the words to one of her favourite songs.
Once the band had finished their first set and headed off for a well-deserved drink and a sit-down, the rest of us headed outside in the cold (it is March, remember) and did our best to get the sparklers lit in the wind to give Jade and Darren a sparkler exit.

So there we go, the first wedding of 2024 done and blogged, I loved my time with Jade and Darren; they knew what they wanted, and that’s why they booked me; they didn’t manage me on the wedding day and just let me do my thing, and the results of that are a fantastic set of wedding images, some of which are in the gallery below.
This was my first time at Rushton Hall Hotel and Spa, which is up there with one of my favorite wedding venues.
