COCKLIFFE COUNTRY HOUSE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Bride and groom exchanging rings during their indoor wedding ceremony at Cockliffe House, captured in a natural and relaxed style – Nottingham wedding photography by SaywellHQ.co.uk.

Samantha and Ashley tied the knot at the beautiful Cockliffe House in Nottinghamshire, celebrating their wedding day with a relaxed, family-first approach and a strong focus on spending time with their loved ones.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I love when couples fully embrace a natural, hands-off approach—and Sam and Ash did just that. They gave me complete creative freedom to capture the day as it unfolded, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

THE WEDDING FIRST LOOK AT COCKLIFFE HOUSE

The day began in the bridal suite at Cockliffe House, where Sam got ready with her mum and daughter. The suite offered a peaceful start to the morning and a lovely setting for capturing candid wedding photography—those natural moments that mean the most later on.

Once ready, it was time for a very special first look. These aren’t as common here in the UK, but they’re always emotional—and this one was no exception. Sam chose to see Ashley before the ceremony so that he could also have a special moment with their daughter, Mya. As a wedding photographer, it’s moments like this that make the documentary approach so rewarding—authentic emotion, captured quietly and unobtrusively.

THE WEDDING CEREMONY AT COCKLIFFE HOUSE

The wedding ceremony took place in one of Cockliffe House’s elegant ceremony rooms, flooded with beautiful natural light thanks to the large feature windows and double doors at the end of the aisle. The soft, even lighting is ideal for capturing natural expressions and unscripted moments—perfect for relaxed wedding photography.

Mya walked down the aisle first, proudly holding a sign that read, “It’s time to give Mummy our last name.” It was a lovely, personal touch that had everyone smiling. Then Sam walked in with her dad—a father-daughter moment filled with joy, which you can see in the image above.

The ceremony itself was short and sweet, just the way they wanted it. Sam and Ashley’s focus was on connection and quality time, not formalities—which meant more room for me to document those genuine interactions throughout the day.

THE WEDDING CONFETTI AT COCKLIFFE HOUSE

After the ceremony, we had a confetti moment right outside the venue, which is always one of my favourite parts of the day. There’s something so joyful and chaotic about it—an explosion of colour, laughter, and celebration.

With confetti brushed off and a quick round of family formal portraits, the newlyweds headed into their wedding breakfast. Sam and Ashley decided to skip speeches altogether, opting instead to savour the food and spend relaxed time chatting with their guests—staying true to the tone of the day.

THE WEDDING FIRST DANCE AT COCKLIFFE HOUSE

The evening kicked off with the cake cut and first dance. Ash took to the dance floor like a pro—definitely one of the more confident grooms I’ve seen! My favourite moment was seeing little Mya watching her mum and dad during the dance, absolutely beaming.

This Cockliffe House wedding was everything I love about being a Nottinghamshire wedding photographer—laid-back, emotional, and filled with genuine moments. Scroll down to see some of my favourite images from Sam and Ashley’s beautiful day.

The photos he captured were truly spectacular and he got all the magical moments of people truly enjoying them selves! If you’re looking for someone to capture those truly natural moments then I cannot recommend him enough. Thank you so much Andy for everything! You really were amazing!
