BROOKSBY HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
In this blog post, we’re heading to Leicestershire for the beautiful wedding of Amy and Tom, who tied the knot at St Michael & All Angels Church, located within the stunning grounds of Brooksby Hall. This charming countryside venue provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with emotion, laughter, and connection—all captured in my signature relaxed and candid documentary wedding photography style. Let’s dive in and take a look at some of my favourite wedding images from their day.
The morning of Amy and Tom’s Brooksby Hall wedding began in the Justices Room, where Amy, her daughter, and her bridesmaids were getting ready ahead of the afternoon and evening celebrations.
The photo above captures a quiet, intimate moment between just Amy and me—one of those candid frames I had pictured in my head well before picking up the camera. It took a bit of patience (and a few failed attempts with others in the background), but eventually, I got the clean, natural composition I was after. It’s moments like these that sum up my approach to documentary wedding photography—waiting for the real, unscripted moments to unfold.
The image above of Tom waiting in St Michael & All Angels Church is quite possibly my favourite ever ‘nervous groom’ photo. I love the subtle layers in this frame—Amy’s mum smiling supportively on the right, Tom’s mum smirking in the background, and Tom himself caught in that perfect mix of nerves, happiness, and the realisation that he’s about to see Amy walk down the aisle.
The church setting adds beautiful depth and complements my signature documentary colour edits perfectly. It’s a simple, honest moment—and hands down, one of my all-time favourite images as a Brooksby Hall wedding photographer.
Another of my absolute favourites from Amy and Tom’s wedding at St Michael & All Angels Church—this shot captures the emotional walk down the aisle with Amy and her Dad. A truly special moment, full of connection, and a perfect example of why I love candid, documentary wedding photography.
The wedding ceremony at St Michael & All Angels Church was one of the most memorable I’ve had the privilege to photograph. Revd David Harknett led the service with genuine warmth, energy, and joy—creating the perfect atmosphere for Amy and Tom’s special moment. Once the vows were exchanged and the paperwork signed, it was time for the much-anticipated first kiss—a moment full of emotion, connection, and celebration.
The confetti shot—always one of my favourite moments to capture at any wedding. It’s that brilliant burst of celebration where family and friends shower the newlyweds in colour and joy. But let’s be honest—it comes with a bit of risk for me! Walking backwards to get the perfect shot, especially near steep steps, definitely keeps things interesting…
After some relaxed mingling with their family and friends, it was time to head inside Brooksby Hall for the wedding breakfast and speeches—a perfect setting to continue the celebrations and capture more candid, storytelling moments.
The evening celebrations began with the cake cutting, followed by the first dance—and I have to say, Tom did brilliantly! While many grooms look a little awkward during this part, Tom took it in his stride. After the first dance, the live wedding band fired up, and it wasn’t long before the dance floor at Brooksby Hall was packed with guests letting loose and enjoying the party.
BROOKSBY HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
And there you have it—my first time photographing a Brooksby Hall wedding, and I absolutely loved every moment.
St Michael & All Angels Church at Brooksby Hall has quickly become one of my favourite wedding ceremony venues in Leicestershire. It’s the perfect size—intimate enough for guests to feel close to the action, yet spacious enough to move freely. Revd David Harknett was incredibly welcoming and allowed me fantastic access throughout the ceremony, which made a real difference in capturing all the authentic emotion and atmosphere.
If you’re planning your wedding at Brooksby Hall and want relaxed, candid, documentary wedding photography, I’d love to hear from you!
