Prestwold Hall is a great wedding venue with many ceremony locations in its lovely grounds. For Amber and Nathan's wedding, they had an outdoor ceremony in the gardens and ended the day with sparklers and fireworks.
BRIDE AND BRIDESMAIDS GETTING READY
My day began with the wonderful experience of capturing Amber and her bridesmaids getting ready in the beautifully decorated Alice Room at Prestwold Hall.
Despite the number of people buzzing around, the morning had an unexpectedly relaxed feel, filled with excitement and anticipation. Amber herself was unbelievably laid-back—I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bride so calm on the morning of her wedding! Her effortless composure set the perfect tone for the incredible day ahead.
THE REVEAL TO DAD
The moment a parent sees their child in a wedding dress for the first time is always filled with emotion and anticipation. Often, mothers have already shared in this joy, having helped choose the perfect gown for the big day.
But for Amber, it was important to have a quiet, intimate reveal with her dad. She had kindly given me a heads-up that he might get emotional—and she was absolutely right. Moments like these are a reminder that my role is not just to capture images, but to document real, heartfelt emotions as they naturally unfold.
My approach is always to take the shot, then step back, allowing families the space to fully embrace these unforgettable moments together.
WEDDING CEREMONY AT PRESTWOLD HALL
With the weather on its best behavior—especially considering the unpredictability of summer 2024—it was a joy to see the couple exchange vows outdoors in the beautifully manicured gardens of Prestwold Hall.
As guests took their seats and soft, romantic music filled the air, the bridesmaids made their way gracefully down the long, elegant pathway toward the charming pagoda, where the heartfelt ceremony was about to begin.
A father’s final walk with his daughter is always a deeply special moment, and for Amber and her dad, the extended walk was nothing short of beautiful. It gave them a precious chance to soak in the moment—the warmth of the day, the presence of loved ones, and the sheer excitement in the air.
Meanwhile, guests had the perfect opportunity to admire Amber’s stunning dress, while Nathan stood nearby, his eyes fixed on his bride-to-be, eagerly watching her draw closer with every step.
The ceremony was a quick one, as Amber and Nathan wanted to get the legal stuff done as quickly as possible. Their primary focus was to spend the rest of the day enjoying precious moments with their family and friends, celebrating their love and the beginning of their new life together.
CONFETTI AT PRESTWOLD HALL
The confetti shot is one of my favorite moments at every wedding; it’s that special time when all the families and friends gather together to joyfully chuck their brightly colored confetti at the newlyweds.
These moments, while filled with laughter, sometimes bring a hint of danger for me, particularly when I find myself walking backward toward some steep steps while trying to capture the perfect shot!
WEDDING SPEECHES AT PRESTWOLD HALL
After spending time with family and friends and capturing a few formal photos, it was time to head into Prestwold Hall for the wedding breakfast and speeches. I always appreciate when speeches take place before the meal—it allows the speakers to relax and enjoy their food afterward.
From a photography perspective, it also keeps the room looking pristine, free from empty plates. The speeches were heartfelt and filled with emotion, culminating in a memorable mic drop from Nathan to close the moment perfectly.
THE WEDDING FIRST DANCE AT PRESTWOLD HALL
The evening festivities began with the much-anticipated cake cutting, followed by a heartwarming first dance—one that, to everyone’s delight, went surprisingly well for Nathan. Given that many grooms often look a little uneasy dancing in front of a crowd, his confidence was impressive. He absolutely nailed it! As the first dance came to a joyful close, the live band kicked in, instantly setting the tone for an energetic night, with guests eagerly filling the dance floor.
WEDDING FIREWORKS AT PRESTWOLD HALL
Is there a more spectacular way to end your wedding day than with a breathtaking fireworks display?
I’ve had the privilege of capturing many fireworks at weddings this year, but the display at Prestwold Hall stood out for one unique reason—it was set to music.
The combination of dazzling visuals and perfectly timed sound was something I had never experienced before, and it added an extra layer of magic to an already unforgettable celebration.
