LANGAR CHURCH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
A CALM MORNING
I love a good local wedding, one where I could have walked to each location!
Alex was getting ready in a small village local to me, Car Colston, with her family and Bridesmaids. Alex only wanted a few images of the morning fun, but I rocked up a little earlier than planned, as I knew it would be a fun morning!
GARDEN GAMES
Alex and Paul had many garden games to keep their wedding guests entertained, splat the rat, football and best of all, crazy golf - but before Alex got her dress on, it was time to face off against Dad!
THE WEDDING DRESS
Alex and her sister Chloe run the Bridal Suite, a family-owned Bridal Dress shop in Woodthorpe in Nottingham; a running joke all day was telling Alex not to spill anything on the dress as it would be back on the rack in the shop in the morning….
Everyone was super excited to see the wedding dress, I imagine that Alex had been looking at 100’s of dresses that came through the shop, trying to decide on her own wedding dress, Mum was first to pop her head through the door to have a look following by Dad; love these two images.
THE BRIDES ARRIVAL
Alex had booked a beautiful wedding car to take her to the Church with her Dad, I love capturing the Bride arriving at the wedding, the nerves the excitement, the realisation that this is it, this next picture is a special one as it captures the look between Alex and her brother.
THE WALK WITH DAD
With everyone in their place, it was time for Alex and her Dad to start their walk down the aisle together, the walk for the Dad is always a special one, and this picture captures the happiness on the face of Alex’s Dad!
THE WEDDING CEREMONY
I love church weddings, I love the drama, I love the history of the Churches and the passion that the person conducting the ceremony always has for weddings. Sometimes Churches are stuck in their ways when it comes to allowing a photographer or videographer access to do their thing, but thankfully Ben, who conducted the ceremony, was more than happy for me to have good access around the church, which allowed me to capture the ceremony for Alex and Paul.
The ceremony was wonderfully done by Ben, it really was and I look forward to photographing at his Church again as it was a real pleasure.
GETTING COVERED IN CONFETTI
I love it when we get a chance to have confetti throwing, most Churches do not allow it on their grounds, but for Alex and Paul, the Church made an exception and with plenty of confetti to go around - the newly wed’s were covered and I think Alex’s Dad enjoyed getting Paul with a good handful of confetti.
THE WEDDING SPEECHES
The wedding speeches are such a big part of many weddings, the time when Dad gets to embarrass his Daughter, when the stories from the stag do are told and a time to raise a toast to the family and friends no longer with us.
First up was Alex’s Dad, who wanted to get his speech out the way before the food so he could then relax and enjoy the rest of the day, then it was Paul who filled everyone in on the story of how he and Alex came a couple and then it was the best men who told some great stories from the stag do and the missing donkey..
THE FIRST DANCE
The first dance or the first shuffle I call it, is normally when the happy couple awkwardly shuffle around each other just waiting for the first dance song to end so they can have a proper boogie; Alex and Paul decided that they wanted to have their family and friends on the dance floor for most of their first dance, which made for some lovely images of the parents dancing at the same time.
SOME KIND WORDS FROM ALEX & PAUL

“St Andrew's Church, Langar-cum-Barnstone is a parish church in the Church of England in Langar, Nottinghamshire. It is Grade I listed as a building of outstanding architectural or historic interest.
The church is often called the "Cathedral of the Vale" for its size relative to the village, which lies in the Vale of Belvoir. This may have come about in part through its importance as a place of pilgrimage in Saxon times”
