HODSOCK PRIORY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Hodsock Priory Wedding Photography + Bride and Groom standing in the ceremony room after they have gotten married

Wallis and Jezz celebrated their wedding in late April 2022 at the stunning Hodsock Priory, one of Nottinghamshire’s most beautiful wedding venues.

My day began by capturing Wallis and her bridesmaids getting ready in the elegant Bridal Room. Soon after I arrived, it was time for Wallis to slip into her wedding dress with the help of her bridesmaids. This was followed by the truly special moment—the emotional reveal to Dad—a heartfelt tradition I love photographing as part of my documentary wedding photography style.

After sharing a few emotional hugs with her dad, Wallis made her way down the long staircase to the beautifully bright and colourful wedding ceremony room at Hodsock Priory for the big moment.

The bridesmaids led the procession down the aisle, followed by Wallis and her dad walking together toward the ceremony. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation and joy as they made their way through the elegant space, perfectly captured with my documentary wedding photography approach.

The ceremony at Hodsock Priory was beautifully conducted, with some lighthearted moments from the registrars that added a fun and personal touch. Unlike some weddings where registrars stick strictly to the script, Wallis and Jezz were lucky to have registrars who brought a sense of joy and humour to the occasion—making the ceremony all the more memorable.

Once the ceremony was complete and the legal papers signed, Wallis and Jezz walked down the aisle as a newly married couple, stepping out into the beautiful gardens at Hodsock Priory. There, they were showered with colourful confetti and enjoyed the early spring sunshine—a joyful moment perfectly captured through my documentary wedding photographystyle.

With the weather on their side, guests were able to enjoy the fun garden games, stroll around the beautiful grounds of Hodsock Priory, and soak up the warm spring sunshine—a perfect way to relax and celebrate at this charming Nottinghamshire wedding venue.

After capturing a few relaxed family formals, we moved inside Hodsock Priory for the wedding breakfast and the much-anticipated speeches.

First up was Wallis’ dad, who shared some lighthearted stories and jokes about Jezz, bringing plenty of laughter to the room. This candid moment became one of my favourite wedding speech images, perfectly capturing the warmth and humour that made the day so special.

As a documentary wedding photographer, it’s vital to me that couples understand and appreciate my relaxed, unobtrusive approach. Wallis and Jezz gave me the freedom to capture their day exactly as it unfolded, resulting in a stunning collection of natural, heartfelt wedding photos.

From start to finish, the day was an absolute joy. The breathtaking Hodsock Priory wedding venue, the incredibly helpful staff, and the fun, easygoing guests made it a wonderful experience—they didn’t mind me weaving through the crowd with my camera in hand!

The evening celebrations kicked off with the cake cutting, followed by the first dance—or as I like to call it, the “first shuffle.” Wallis and Jezz had no set plan for their dance; they simply let their bodies move freely, creating a carefree, joyful moment that perfectly reflected their personalities.

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Hodsock Priory, and I can’t wait to return. The venue has so much character and charm, making it one of my favourite Nottinghamshire wedding venues to work at.

SOME KIND WORDS FROM WALLIS & JEZZ

“Where to even begin? Andy was everything we could've possibly asked for in a photographer. Funny, personable, authentic and no none sense (in the best way).

We wanted to feel relaxed and have minimal disruption for us and our guests on our wedding day, and Andy's documentary style delivers just that.”
