COCKLIFFE COUNTRY HOUSE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Annie and Chris celebrated their wedding at the beautiful Cockliffe Country House, a charming Nottingham wedding venue tucked away in the grounds of Burnstump Park. Their day was the perfect mix of British elegance and Swedish wedding traditions—especially when it came to the drinking games later on!
I started the day capturing the arrival of their family and friends. Annie had chosen a calm, private morning without photography during bridal prep, but I did sneak in for a quick hello before heading off to find Chris, who was waging an amusing battle with his buttonhole in a game I like to call “will it stay on or not?”
Cockliffe Country House boasts one of my favourite wedding ceremony rooms in Nottinghamshire. Its impressively long wedding aisle means couples get those precious extra moments to savour the walk towards each other. Unlike short aisles where you’re at the front in a flash, this one lets you breathe, take it all in, and really enjoy the moment.
Another reason I love photographing weddings at Cockliffe Country House is the stunning ceremony room. At the end of the aisle, large windows and doors flood the space with beautifully soft, natural light. This creates a gentle, flattering glow on the couple throughout the ceremony—perfect for those intimate, emotional moments.
From a wedding photographer’s perspective, the room’s layout is a dream. The sun never beams directly through the windows, which means no harsh shadows or blown-out highlights—just consistently even, timeless lighting. It’s one of those little details that makes a huge difference when capturing gorgeous wedding photos at Cockliffe House.
Annie and Chris opted for a Humanist wedding ceremony at Cockliffe Country House, led by a close friend—making it beautifully personal and heartfelt.
I’m a big fan of Humanist ceremonies. They’re entirely centred on the couple—their love story, shared adventures, and the moments that brought them to this day. It’s always such a privilege to hear those stories and capture the genuine emotion in the room.
After the “I do’s,” it was time for a true British wedding tradition—confetti! For a moment, it looked like it might not happen, as the confetti cannons proved a little more complicated than expected. But with a bit of teamwork (and a lot of laughter), they went off with a bang, showering the newlyweds in a burst of colour—perfect for those fun, candid wedding photos.
After the confetti celebrations, Annie and Chris enjoyed mingling with their guests in the picturesque gardens of Cockliffe Country House. Thankfully, the rain stayed away long enough for everyone to relax outside, giving us just the right window to capture the few family formal photos they had requested.
The wedding breakfast began with a round of speeches, featuring heartfelt words and plenty of laughs from both sides of the family. True to tradition, the Swedish guests brought their A-game when it came to raising a glass—let’s just say, they know how to keep the toasts flowing!
After the wedding breakfast, heartfelt speeches, and a beautifully decorated cake cut, it was time for the wedding first dance—though I like to call it the “first shuffle.” Annie and Chris swayed together under the warm lights of Cockliffe Country House before the dancefloor officially opened. From there, the evening turned into a full-blown party, complete with some brilliantly questionable dance moves from Chris and his mates that had everyone laughing and cheering.
I really enjoyed photographing a wedding at Cockliffe Country House. From the stylish bar and beautifully kept gardens to the bright, well-designed ceremony room, every detail feels carefully thought out. Combine that with a wedding planner who truly knows her stuff, and you’ve got a fantastic Nottinghamshire wedding venue that’s a joy for both couples and their guests.
