BARTON HALL HOTEL & SPA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

BARTON HALL HOTEL & SPA + bride and groom walking at night with sparklers

Anna & Joe celebrated their wedding at Barton Hall Hotel & Spa in Northamptonshire on one of those properly warm, sunny summer days. I was with them for the full day, from the morning preparations right through to sparklers after dark, capturing everything in my usual relaxed, documentary style.

The morning started with Anna and her bridesmaids getting ready at Barton Hall. It was a busy one, with friends and family constantly popping in and out, before Anna’s mum and auntie helped her into her wedding dress. We then had a first look with her dad, followed by another with the bridesmaids – both slightly emotional to say the least!

The wedding ceremony took place in The Orangery at Barton Hall. Joe was there welcoming guests while Anna made the long walk through the trees towards the venue with her dad. It’s a brilliant entrance, with the bridesmaids making their way in first before Anna and her dad followed them into The Orangery.

With the summer sun pouring through the windows, it was certainly a warm ceremony – and some challenging light for a wedding photographer! The ceremony itself was short, relaxed and without too much fuss, followed by a few photographs signing the register before everyone headed outside.

Confetti was next, although on a day that hot finding some shade quickly became a priority! Anna & Joe spent the drinks reception chatting with their guests in the sunshine, enjoying drinks, canapés and some very welcome ice cream. We also fitted in a handful of relaxed family photos before everyone headed inside for the wedding breakfast.

Anna & Joe made quite the entrance, with guests cheering and swinging their napkins as they came into the room. After dinner came the speeches, starting with Anna’s dad, followed by Joe’s mum, the best man and finally Joe himself – plenty of laughs and some lovely moments throughout.

As the evening arrived, guests headed outside for garden games before everyone returned to The Orangery for Anna & Joe’s first dance. A father-and-daughter dance followed back in the main banqueting room, which quickly got everyone else involved and properly kicked off the evening dancefloor.

We finished the day outside with a sparkler walk – always good fun when you’re combining slightly drunk wedding guests with sticks of fire!

Barton Hall is a fantastic Northamptonshire wedding venue for a full summer wedding, with The Orangery, gardens and main hotel giving couples plenty of different spaces throughout the day. For relaxed wedding photography, it also offers loads of opportunities to simply follow the action and capture things naturally – from a busy morning of bridal prep through to everyone letting loose on the dancefloor.

Anna & Joe’s wedding had everything I love about photographing weddings: plenty happening, lots of laughter, a brilliant group of people and a couple who could simply enjoy their day while I concentrated on documenting it.

BARTON HALL HOTEL & SPA WEDDING VENUE LOCATION AND INFORMATION

“Barton Hall Hotel & Spa is a beautiful country house wedding venue in Barton Seagrave, near Kettering in Northamptonshire. The Grade II listed hotel sits within extensive landscaped grounds, with mature gardens, lawns and plenty of outdoor space, giving the venue a relaxed countryside feel while still having the character and elegance of a historic country house.

At the heart of weddings at Barton Hall is the Grade I listed Orangery, a bright, distinctive space used for ceremonies and drinks receptions, before celebrations can move into the Charles Suite for the wedding breakfast and evening party. Barton Hall describes the venue as suitable for weddings of up to 120 guests, and with only one wedding reception held each day, it has a much more private and personal feel than you might expect from a hotel wedding venue.

The combination of the historic Hall, Orangery and surrounding gardens gives couples plenty of variety throughout the day. There are lovely spaces for guests to relax outside, plenty of options for photographs around the grounds, and accommodation on-site for anyone wanting to stay over after the celebrations”
