COLWICK HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
at & Daryl celebrated their wedding at Colwick Hall, a beautiful historic wedding venue set within the grounds of Colwick Country Park in Nottingham. I was with them for the full day, from the morning preparations through to the evening celebrations, capturing everything in my usual relaxed, documentary style.
Wedding Preparations at Colwick Hall
The morning started with Kat and her bridesmaids getting ready in the Lord Byron Suite at Colwick Hall. It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, with Kat surrounded by her closest friends while both mums popped in to join the preparations and have a little hair and makeup done themselves.
Once Kat was in her wedding dress, we had a lovely first look with her dad, followed by another with the bridesmaids. Both were really nice moments to capture before everyone headed downstairs for the ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony in the Grand Ballroom
The ceremony took place in the Grand Ballroom at Colwick Hall, a beautiful room with plenty of character and an impressive setting for a wedding.
With the morning preparations running slightly over, guests were already making their way into the ceremony room when I arrived. Daryl was waiting at the front, and you could see the emotions starting to build.
As the music started and the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle, Daryl finally let the tears flow. Seeing Kat walking towards him with her dad almost finished him off!
The ceremony itself was lovely and personal, with their daughter wanting to be involved in the celebrations. After exchanging their vows and signing the register, Kat & Daryl walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, ready to get the celebrations started.
Confetti, Drinks & Wedding Speeches
Everyone headed into the gardens behind Colwick Hall for confetti, followed by one of my favourite parts of any wedding day – the hugs, kisses and congratulations from family and friends.
The drinks reception continued outside, giving everyone a chance to relax and catch up while we captured a handful of family group photos. We managed to get everything done before the first of several heavy showers arrived!
The wedding breakfast followed inside Colwick Hall, with speeches taking place after the food. There were plenty of emotional moments, particularly as family members who were no longer with them were remembered, alongside some lovely stories and laughter.
Evening Celebrations at Colwick Hall
After the speeches, the rain gave us a short break, so we headed outside for around fifteen minutes of relaxed couple photographs around the grounds of Colwick Hall.
Then it was back inside for the cake cutting and first dance before the dancefloor properly kicked off. With a brilliant group of guests who were clearly up for a party, there was plenty of laughter, dancing and the usual evening chaos to photograph!
Kat & Daryl’s wedding was a fantastic day from start to finish. Colwick Hall is a lovely Nottingham wedding venue, with its historic interiors and surrounding gardens providing plenty of opportunities for natural wedding photographs.
What made the day particularly enjoyable was how relaxed everyone was. Kat & Daryl were happy to let me work in the background, capturing the moments as they happened without constantly stopping things for photographs – exactly how I love to photograph weddings.

Colwick Hall is a historic country house wedding venue situated within Colwick Country Park, just a few miles from Nottingham city centre. Once home to the famous poet Lord Byron’s family, the Georgian mansion combines grand interiors, elegant reception rooms and beautiful gardens, making it a fantastic setting for weddings throughout the year.
Couples can celebrate their wedding in the impressive Grand Ballroom, a beautiful space with high ceilings, period features and plenty of natural light. The venue also offers several elegant function rooms, including the Lakeside Pavilion, providing options for wedding ceremonies, receptions and evening celebrations.
