REPTON SCHOOL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Izzy and Ash picked many stunning venues for their wedding day, from getting ready in their new home on the grounds of Repton School to getting married at the nearby Repton Chapel, followed by the drinks reception in the Garth and the all-important wedding reception in Pear School.
The day started for me with Izzy, getting ready in her new house, which was a five-minute walk to the chapel at Repton School, where she would be getting married to Ash.
The morning was a very relaxed one; when I arrived, everyone had finished their hair and make-up and was sunning themselves in the August Sunshine (something that didn’t happen much in August 2023…).
Izzy has the help of her Mum and her Sister in getting into her wedding dress, and there is a lovely photo (which you will see in the gallery below) of Izzy’s brother watching on as his little sister is in the final stages of putting the wedding dress on.
One of the things I love about most Churches or Chapels is the natural light that can come through the big windows, natural light is one of the three fundamentals of a great photo, light, composition and moment.
The aisle inside the Repton School Chapel is a nice long one, which means there is plenty of opportunities too capture a nice photo of the bride and her father, the image above is my favourite from the sequence of images taken as Izzy and her Dad walked down the aisle, its not that often you get a photo with both looking forward and looking happy, a lot of the time, one will have their head down or one will look nervous!
With most Church or Chapel weddings lasting about 45 minutes, it gives you plenty of time to capture a range of images, but you can only capture a range of images if you are given the right access during the wedding ceremony. Thankfully, the access I was given during the wedding ceremony of Izzy and Ash was as much as I could have hoped for.
During the ceremony, I was free to move around the Chapel to capture images of the different people doing speeches and readings, and also the different people contributing to the wedding ceremony. I never move during the wedding ceremony, only when there are readings, poems or hymns being sung.
The ceremony for Izzy and Ash was really nice, because they were both local to the Chapel, they knew personally the Reverend and the Vicar.
I think my ears are still ringing with the bangs of the confetti cannons going off during the confetti run - I don’t think I have ever heard anything so loud, and the look of shock on the faces of Izzy and Ash when the confetti cannons went off are priceless.
I love the confetti run, and I especially love it when couples have loads of confetti; I always say to couples that if you are going to do confetti, get loads, and then when you think you have enough, buy some more!
After the confetti and a little mingling, it was over to the Garth at Repton School for the drinks reception and the all-important speeches.
The Garth at Repton School is an amazing space for the wedding speeches, with its gothic architecture, no matter which way you face as a wedding photographer, the back drops are stunning.
The speeches started off with Ash’s best man, then Izzy’s Dad, Ash and then finally Ash’s Dad.
I think you can see from the speeches photos in the main gallery below, we had some fun and some tears, which made for some great photos.
After the wedding breakfast in Pear School, it was time for the first dance, the one part of the day that Izzy and Ash were not looking forward too!

The wedding of Izzy and Ash was my first time at Repton School for a full wedding day, I had been there before for a wedding reception during COVID times - remember them…
I thoroughly loved my time at Repton School, the access at the Chapel was perfect, which allowed me to capture some great wedding ceremony images, the Garth is a lovely outdoor enclosed space for the drinks reception and the speeches. Pear School is a few minutes walk from the Garth and has all the space you could possible need for the wedding breakfast and the aftershow party.
If you are thinking of a different space for your wedding, I’d 100% recommend having a look at Repton School as they have many different spaces for you to get married and enjoy time with your family and friends.
