REPTON SCHOOL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Izzy and Ash picked many stunning venues for their wedding day, from getting ready in their new home on the grounds of Repton School to getting married at the nearby Repton Chapel, followed by the drinks reception in the Garth and the all-important wedding reception in Pear School.
The day started for me with Izzy, getting ready in her new house, which was a five-minute walk to the chapel at Repton School, where she would be getting married to Ash.
The morning had a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. By the time I arrived, everyone had already finished their hair and makeup and was making the most of the August sunshine—a rare treat in 2023!
Izzy had the loving support of her mum and sister as she stepped into her wedding dress. One particularly special moment was when her brother watched on as his little sister prepared for her big day—a beautiful moment captured in a photo you'll find in the gallery below.
One of the things I love about most Churches or Chapels is the natural light that can come through the big windows, natural light is one of the three fundamentals of a great photo, light, composition and moment.
The aisle inside Repton School Chapel is beautifully long, providing plenty of opportunities to capture that special moment between the bride and her father. The image above is my favorite from the sequence of Izzy and her dad walking down the aisle—it's rare to get a shot where both are looking forward, smiling, and truly in the moment. More often than not, one will have their head down or look a little nervous, but this one perfectly captures the joy of the occasion!
With most church or chapel weddings lasting around 45 minutes, there’s plenty of time to capture a variety of moments—provided you have the right access. Thankfully, during Izzy and Ash’s ceremony, I had as much freedom as I could have hoped for.
I was able to move around the chapel to document the different speakers, readers, and those contributing to the ceremony. Of course, I always remain respectful, only repositioning myself during readings, poems, or hymns to ensure minimal disruption.
What made Izzy and Ash’s ceremony even more special was their personal connection to the chapel. Being locals, they knew the Reverend and Vicar personally, which added an extra layer of warmth and meaning to the service.
I think my ears are still ringing from the deafening bangs of the confetti cannons during the confetti run—I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything so loud! The look of shock on Izzy and Ash’s faces when they went off was absolutely priceless
I love the confetti run, and I especially love it when couples have loads of confetti; I always say to couples that if you are going to do confetti, get loads, and then when you think you have enough, buy some more!
After the confetti and a little mingling, it was over to the Garth at Repton School for the drinks reception and the all-important speeches.
The Garth at Repton School is an incredible setting for wedding speeches. With its stunning gothic architecture, every angle offers a breathtaking backdrop—making it a dream location for a wedding photographer.
The speeches kicked off with Ash’s best man, followed by Izzy’s dad, then Ash himself, and finally, Ash’s dad.
As you’ll see in the photos below, the speeches were a perfect mix of laughter and heartfelt moments, creating some truly memorable and emotional images.
After the wedding breakfast in Pear School, it was time for the first dance, the one part of the day that Izzy and Ash were not looking forward too!

Izzy and Ash’s wedding was my first time photographing a full wedding day at Repton School, though I had been there before for a wedding reception during the COVID days—remember those?
I absolutely loved my time at Repton. The access in the Chapel was perfect, allowing me to capture some truly special ceremony moments. The Garth provided a beautiful, enclosed outdoor space for the drinks reception and speeches, while Pear School, just a short walk away, offered all the room you could need for the wedding breakfast and after-party.
