THE HALL BARNS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Freya and Alex were married at the Hall Barns, which is situated on the Prestwold Estate in Leicestershire, this was my first visit to The Hall Barns and I knew from the wedding plans that it was going to be fun, with a twist!
BRIDE GETTING READY AT LAUNDRY COTTAGE
The day started for me with a few images of the venue; I like to arrive nice and early, as it often means the venue is clear of any guests, and I can get a few shots of the decor and anything else related to the wedding, to see some images of the venue, head to the bottom of the page.
After getting my set-up shots, I headed to the Laundry Cottage, where Freya and her family were getting ready.
The Cottage is only a short walk from the Hall Barns and makes a perfect place for people to get ready on the morning of the wedding.
When I arrived, Freya was partway through having her make-up done, and after a few ‘hellos’ to people, I got cracking. The morning was nice and calm, Freya had a timing plan, and we were all bang on time, and for what seemed like only 10 minutes, Freya was in her dress and on the golf cart heading up to the venue to get married!
WALKING DOWN THE AISLE
This image above is one of my favorites from the wedding day at the Hall Barns, the little look between Freya and her Dad before they started that emotional walk down the aisle.
I love it when the couple have eye contact at the end of the wedding aisle, so often people are filled with nerves, and they walk down with their head down, not smiling and not looking at anyone - but not Freya, head up, smiling and looking at Alex as she got to the end of the wedding aisle.
THE WEDDING CEREMONY AT HALL BARNS
The Wedding ceremony at The Hall Barns was held in the Crew Yard and was nicely done, and is tradition for the Leicester registrars they get the witnesses to stand at the front for part of the wedding ceremony, so they can ‘witness’ the couple saying the legal stuff.
The ceremony was a quick one, Freya and Alex wanted to get the legal stuff done as quiclly as possible so they could spend the rest of the day with their family and friends.
THE WEDDING SPEECHES AT THE HALL BARNS
After the wedding ceremony came the canopes and drinks, along with some garden games, before we all headed inside for the wedding breakfast and the speeches.
One of the great things about the Hall Barns is the relaxed nature of the venue; it is not a venue for a ‘traditional’ wedding, it’s cozy and perfect for weddings of 50-75 people, and you get to be a little bit different with the choice of food that is served; Freya and Alex had gone for a bit of a meat feast with homemade sausage rolls, pork steaks, crackling - looked lovely!
Like the ceremony, the speeches were not your typical ones, just Alex and Freya’s best friend Bethan doing the speeches, no embarrassing stories, just some ‘thank yous’ and lovely stories of each other.
THE FIRST DANCE AND A SURPRISE!
Now, I had been told that there was going to be a surprise performance for the evening entertainment and was warned that the first dance wasn’t really going to happen, it was just going to be a way of introducing the evening fun!
They guys started to do the first dance and then someone interrupted the first dance music - it was Heidi Wurst.
Heidi was amazing, she added so much to the wedding evening, and I cannot remember the last time I saw so many people laughing at a wedding - it’s all in the main gallery below.
I absolutely loved the wedding of Freya and Alexa at the Hall Barns, I loved that they wanted their day to be about the people and not about spending hours doing posed family photo after posed family photo, they wanted their images to be authentic and true to the day that they had planned.
