Hazel Gap Barn Wedding Photographer | Bride and Groom share a loving look during the wedding ceremony

Scarlett & Ryan tied the knot on a rainy summer day at the stunning Hazel Gap Barn in Budby, Newark—a venue that looked just as beautiful, rain or shine.

My day began at a hotel in Retford, where Scarlett, her mum, and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Since Scarlett & Ryan had booked me for eight hours of coverage and prioritized more photos of the evening celebrations, I arrived just in time for the final moments of prep. By the time I walked in, Scarlett was about to step into her wedding dress with the help of her mum—a perfect moment to start the story of their day.

Once Scarlett was in her wedding dress, and after a quick make-up touch-up, it was time for Dad to see her.

One of the most striking features of Hazel Gap Barn is its main barn, where wedding ceremonies take place. The natural light that floods into the space is simply stunning, creating a beautifully atmospheric setting.

This light adds a dramatic touch to the moment when people walk down the aisle, making for some truly breathtaking photos that capture both the grandeur of the barn and the emotion of the ceremony.

The wedding ceremony was a quick one, with the guys just wanting to get the legals stuff done as quickly as possible and get cracking on the drinks and canapes, but first, it was the confetti run!

After the hugs, kisses, and a few family formals, it was time for the all-important wedding speeches, with the father of the bride up first with a very emotional speech.

After the wedding breakfast, Scarlett and Ryan wanted to take a quick walk around the venue for some portraits away from the crowd. I’m always more than happy to explore a wedding venue with a couple to capture some relaxed and intimate images of just the two of them.

Once we returned from our little stroll, it was time for the first dance—or as I like to call it, the first shuffle! Let’s be honest, most couples end up awkwardly shuffling around each other, but that’s just part of the charm—it’s practically wedding tradition!

I always love documenting weddings at Hazel Gap Barn—it’s a stunning venue with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, fantastic staff, and a genuinely friendly vibe. It’s easy to see why it’s such a sought-after location, with key dates getting booked up year after year!
