SHOTTLE HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Lynne and Lewis chose the stunning Shottle Hall wedding venue for their outdoor wedding ceremony, and with the sun shining all day, it was truly picture-perfect.
My day began by capturing Lynne and her bridesmaids getting ready in preparation for their beautiful garden ceremony at Shottle Hall—one of Derbyshire’s most sought-after wedding venues.
Once hair and makeup were finished, Lynne’s bridesmaid helped her into her wedding dress—an intimate, emotional moment full of excitement and anticipation, perfectly captured with my documentary wedding photography style
One of my favourite moments in wedding photography is when the father of the bride sees his daughter in her wedding dress for the very first time. While these moments can sometimes feel staged, with family members building up the anticipation, there are those rare occasions when it’s pure magic. The genuine reactions, overflowing with emotion, make for some of the most unforgettable and heartfelt photos in any documentary wedding photographer’s collection
One of my favourite shots from Lynne and Lewis’s wedding at Shottle Hall captures the beautiful moment when Lynne and her dad appeared through the main door leading down to the garden.
I had a clear vision for this photo: to have both of them framed perfectly in the doorway, with the iconic Shottle Hall grounds providing a stunning backdrop, and Lewis positioned in the foreground.
While having a vision is key, capturing the perfect shot always requires a mix of careful planning—and a bit of luck. On this occasion, the stars aligned perfectly!
Once the wedding ceremony at Shottle Hall concluded, everyone gathered at the front of this beautiful Derbyshire wedding venue for one of the most joyful moments—the classic confetti toss to celebrate the newlyweds!
After spending a relaxed afternoon mingling with their guests at Shottle Hall, Lynne and Lewis headed inside for the wedding breakfast and the much-anticipated speeches.
The toasts kicked off with Lynne’s dad, followed by Lewis, and finally the best man. And for once, the best man surprised everyone by pulling out a toy gun—an unexpected and hilarious twist that definitely added some fun to the speeches and had the room buzzing!
After the speeches, Lewis and Lynne took a quiet walk around the beautiful grounds of Shottle Hall, soaking in the moment—because wedding days often seem to fly by in the blink of an eye.
Following their peaceful stroll, it was time to cut the cake and then share their first dance, marking the start of the evening celebrations at this stunning Derbyshire wedding venue.
SOME KIND WORDS FROM LYNNE & LEWIS
“Andy was exactly what we were looking for, relaxed and informal documentary style photos which really captures the emotions of the day. Andy is very thorough and has excellent communication throughout the process to give you complete peace of mind”
