HODSOCK PRIORY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Welcome to my last blog post of 2024, and what a wedding to finish the year off with!
Steph and Craig were married at the end of November 2024 during one of the windiest storms I can remember, but despite the weather, we were in for a great day.
The day started for me with Steph and her girls getting ready in the Bridal Room; it wasn’t long after I arrived that it was time for Steph to get in her wedding dress with help from her bridesmaids and Mum.
The bridesmaids were first down the aisle, followed by Steph and her father. Halfway down the aisle, Steph swapped and started walking down the aisle with her stepfather, a lovely moment which was unique to Steph and her family.
The ceremony was nicely done, if a little warm with the roaring fire almost setting fire to my bum as I tried to squeeze in to get the images during the emotional wedding ceremony in the Panelled Hall.
Once the ceremony was over and the legal papers signed, it was time for the newlyweds to walk down the aisle. Because of the gale-force winds, Hodsock allowed everyone to throw the confetti inside the Panelled Hall - a first indoor confetti run for me!
After the guys had mingled with their wedding guests, we did a few family formals back in the Panelled Hall and a quick dash outside to try to get some photos while the wind had died down.
Then it was time for the wedding breakfast and the all-important wedding speeches.
First up was Craig’s Dad, who gave a heartfelt and emotional speech which led to this image of Craig and his Dad embracing - one of my favourite wedding speech images of 2024.
Something so important to me as a documentary wedding photographer is that the couples understand what I do and how I do it and allow me on their wedding day to capture the wedding in a relaxed and unobtrusive way. Only by doing this do we get images like the one above, with Craig and his Dad.
The evening started with the cake cut, or rather a cheese tower cut, and then it was into the first dance (or the first shuffle as I call it).
Most couples shuffle around each other for the first dance, but Steph and Craig wanted to do something a little different. With Pulp Fiction on the projector, it was time to recreate the famous dancing scene from the movie.
