HODSOCK PRIORY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Welcome to my last blog post of 2024—and what a wedding to finish the year off with!
Steph and Craig tied the knot in late November 2024 during one of the windiest storms I can remember. Despite the challenging weather, the day turned out to be truly unforgettable.
My day began in the Bridal Room, where I joined Steph and her girls as they prepared for the festivities. It wasn’t long before the moment arrived for Steph to slip into her wedding dress, assisted by her bridesmaids and Mum.
The bridesmaids led the way down the aisle, followed by Steph and her father. Midway, a touching moment occurred when Steph switched places and walked down the aisle with her stepfather—a beautiful, unique gesture that truly reflected her family's bond.
The ceremony was beautifully executed, though a bit warm—the roaring fire almost singed my bum as I squeezed my way in to capture the emotional moments in the Panelled Hall.
Once the ceremony was over and the legal papers signed, it was time for the newlyweds to walk down the aisle. Because of the gale-force winds, Hodsock allowed everyone to throw the confetti inside the Panelled Hall - a first indoor confetti run for me!
After the guys mingled with their wedding guests, we gathered for a few family formals in the Panelled Hall and even managed a quick dash outside to capture some photos while the wind had died down.
Then it was time for the wedding breakfast and the all-important wedding speeches.
First up was Craig’s Dad, who delivered a heartfelt and emotional speech that resulted in this memorable image of him and Craig embracing—one of my favorite wedding speech moments of 2024.
As a documentary wedding photographer, it’s crucial to me that couples understand my approach and trust me to capture their day in a relaxed, unobtrusive way. It’s this freedom that allows us to create genuine moments—like the touching embrace between Craig and his Dad, shown above.
The evening began with the cake cut—or rather, a cheese tower cut—and then it was off to the first dance (or, as I like to call it, the first shuffle).
While most couples simply shuffle around each other for their first dance, Steph and Craig decided to do something a little different. With Pulp Fiction projected in the background, it was time to recreate the famous dancing scene from the movie.
