GRANGEFIELDS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
I love Grangefields as a wedding venue; it has charm and so much character; I was super excited when Linda and Peter asked if I would be their wedding photographer for their September wedding at Grangefields!
The day started for me over at Makeney Hall Hotel, where Linda, her parents and her maid of honour were getting ready. At the time of writing this blog, Grangefields has no onsite rooms where couples can get ready before the wedding (this is also the case for Hazel Gap, another Cripp's and Co venue).
With only a few people getting ready, it meant that everyone was made-up and ready to go bang on time; the only delay was the arrival of the wedding car… when it did finally turn up, Linda's Dad had to lend a hand in getting the ribbons on the car..
When I arrived at Grangefields, Peter and his best man were greeting the arriving wedding guests and showing them into the impressive wedding ceremony room at Grangefields.
I love the images of Linda and her Dad walking down the aisle; I love that Linda let her emotions out as soon as she and Peter looked at each other.
One of the reasons I love the wedding ceremony room at Grangefields is the light. Most people just see nicely lit images (like in the gallery below), but there is a reason for the nice light and that's the large window which allows for soft light to bathe the couple during the wedding ceremony. So many barn conversion wedding venues have hardly any natural light, and if they do, they are often behind the couple and not in front lighting the couple.
After the wedding ceremony was completed and the marriage certificate signed by the witnesses, it was time for the newly married couple to walk back down the aisle and into the courtyard to be covered in confetti and bubbles.
The early afternoon was spent in the courtyard before the rain forced us inside for an early wedding breakfast and the speeches.
The speeches were from Linda's Dad, Peter, the Best Man and Peter's Dad. With Linda's parents arriving from China for the wedding, Peter did part of his speech in Chinese, which was a nice touch.
The early evening kicked off with some garden games; we had Jenga, badminton and crazy golf. Having garden games or something for the wedding guests to do in between the big parts of the day can make a big difference to the wedding day; having people sat around for hours waiting for the next wedding bit to happen can be a little boring for some wedding guest, but Linda and Peter made the right call to have some activities for people to do. It made for some fun wedding images.
The evening started with the traditional cake cut, followed by the first dance, a Spotify playlist disco and finally, a sparkler exit on the balcony of the courtyard.
