DODDINGTON HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Aimee and Sam had a long wait for their wedding day due to COVID. The original date of May 2020 would have been under restrictions, and although it was a difficult decision to postpone, they made the right call and the wait for their special day was worth it.
I love capturing both sides of the wedding getting ready, I love the contrast of the guys with the loud music and the drink vs the girls sipping on champagne and chatting about their dream weddings.
The Long Room at Doddington Hall is absolutely stunning. The light streaming through the large windows, the unique wooden floor, and the artwork and antiques that adorn the walls all create a beautiful atmosphere. But the main thing I love about the room is its incredible length.
Because of the room’s size, it sets the stage for a dramatic entrance.
Once the bridesmaids had made their way down the aisle and taken their seats, it was time for Aimee and her dad to make their grand entrance.
The wedding ceremony was beautifully done and a very personal one as the registrar was a close family friend of both Aimee and Sam. The lighting again in the Longroom made for a set of stunning wedding ceremony pictures.
Once the wedding ceremony was complete and the couple was showered in confetti, it was time to head over to The Coach House for the wedding speeches.
The Coach House has been beautifully converted into an incredible space. What’s surprising is that the front of the building gives no hint of the stunning interior that lies behind the imposing door.
The speeches kicked off with Dad, followed by Sam, the groom, and then finally, the best men—each sharing heartfelt and often humorous stories to celebrate the couple’s big day.
After the speeches and the wedding breakfast, it was time to head outside for the cake cutting. I always love it when couples cut the cake outside—it adds a special touch to the moment.
Inside, the cake is often pressed up against a wall, which can make for an awkward shot. But when we get to do the cake cutting outdoors, it opens up the scene and creates a much more relaxed, beautiful setting for photos.
With the room packed and the band playing the first dance song, it was time for Aimme and Sam to dance their first dance, and after some crazy dancing from the guests, it was time to pop outside for the sparkler exit; a perfect end to a brilliant wedding.
SOME KIND WORDS FROM AIMEE & SAM
“Andy seamlessly moved around the wedding, through the day and into the night, taking candid photos. We were worried that it would feel full on being photographed all the time, but it never once came into our minds on the day. Thank you Andy for helping us to savour the memories of the best day of our lives”
